Our Setting and Wildlife Get Tender Loving Care at Alta Sierra
We've been named an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary
Everyone knows that love for golf and love of the great outdoors go together. There's nothing quite as relaxing as standing on a tee box and watching birds soar overhead or hearing them chatter in the wetlands nearby.
At Alta Sierra we appreciate our luxuriant scenery and the wildlife that live in and around our fairways and greens. We have worked hard to preserve our natural setting and have the honor of being designated a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary by Audubon International. We are one of only 34 courses in California and 531 in the world to receive this honor. We were given this prestigious designation by achieving excellence in environmental planning, wildlife and habitat management, outreach and education. We've also worked on water conservation and preserving the quality of the water by reducing use of harmful chemicals.
What this sanctuary rating means to you is a more scenic and natural experience during your round. Playing 18 at Alta Sierra is like a visit to a park.
The results of our environmental stewardship benefit not only the animals that live here, but the people who live and visit here as well. There's something very special about hearing the sounds of geese and other waterfowl that gather at our many ponds, or seeing wood ducks nesting in the habitats built by some of our members. And, of course, there's the special event of the spring and early summer, the arrival of the baby ducks, geese and fawns. If you enjoy nature and wildlife, Alta Sierra will always be a very special place to visit.
